DANBURY — Santa will lead a caravan of 10 fire trucks loaded with toys to Family & Children’s Aid on Saturday morning.

The city’s volunteer firefighters collected the toys, which will go to Family & Children’s Aid’s Life is Good Playmaker Village, benefiting the 1,700 children the organization serves each month.

For the fifth year, firefighters have spent Friday evenings since Thanksgiving collecting toys in Danbury Square outside of FiveBelow.

“With the closing of Toys R Us, this year was a cause of much concern for how and where we would be able to continue this crucial toy drive for the kids served by Family & Children’s Aid,” said Allison Carballo, director of development for the organization. “We are beyond grateful that the Danbury Volunteer Fire Department has once again stepped up and gone above and beyond to ensure no child in our care would go without this holiday season.”

Toys will arrive at 10 a.m.

Refreshments are graciously being provided by Chick-Fil-A.
