Family & Children’s Aid, Inc. is pleased to announce the receipt of a $5,000.00 grant from The Savings Bank of Danbury Foundation. The grant will provide new playground equipment for the StarShine Group Home for Children, which provides a safe haven for six children at one time, who are experiencing their first out-of-home placement due to abuse, neglect, family conflict or trauma. The StarShine Group Home operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The goal is to provide a secure and nurturing environment where the children may begin to heal from the traumas they have suffered.
Irvin R. Jennings, M.D., Executive and Medical Director of Family & Children’s Aid, expressed his appreciation by stating, “Foundations such as The Savings Bank of Danbury deserve much of the credit for the success of our programs and the progress that the children make within them. Through their kindness and generosity, we are able to maintain the high standards of care that our children so desperately deserve, and we are extremely grateful for their partnership”.
Family & Children’s Aid operates six neighborhood-style group home programs with 60 beds serving Connecticut’s most needy children and families. In addition, FCA offers many outpatient programs, in-home programs and a summer camp for the children in the homes.
