Friends of Harmony House
For over 20 years, FCA’s Harmony House Shelter for Homeless Women and Children has been a safe homelike place for women trying to make a new start. Harmony House Shelter in Danbury houses up to 16 moms and their children and empowers women by providing them with the skills and resources needed to maintain a more stable life & achieve the goal of living independently. FCA differs from other shelters as a behavioral health care organization, with emphasis placed on reducing the trauma caused to families in the crisis of becoming homeless.
Friends of Harmony House Volunteers would assist with the following:
- Fundraising Support & Securing Donations: Hosting a donation drive or helping to secure non-perishable food items, clothing, and as needed items.
- On-Site Volunteering: Organizing the food pantry, sorting clothing donations, etc. *on-site volunteer opportunities are limited due to safety, security, and privacy reasons*
- Covering Residence Monitoring Shifts: (Paid Per-Diem Employment Opportunity) Harmony House Shelter has awake staff on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
